Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating and applying the Company’s Human Resources policies, procedures and local Human Resources tasks.

The primary focus of this position will be on; hourly payroll, hourly recruiting/orientation, benefit interpretations/administration and training. This individual must possess the ability to maintain a flawless level of confidentially. Supporting a plant size of approximately 150 employees.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare hourly payroll function.
  • Hourly full cycle recruiting/staffing and coordination of shift change opportunities. Coordinate interviews for staff members.
  • List all full time hourly job openings with the State Employment Security Commission and advertise for hourly positions appropriately
  • Familiar with EEOC and AAP employment law. Enter applicants onto an Applicant Flow Log
  • Prepare Job Offer letter for Plant Manager’s signature
  • Coordinate and maintain the results of pre-employment drug screens and background checks
  • Complete E-Verify and updated as necessary
  • Require new employees to complete a Sonoco Employee Agreement
  • Conduct New Employee Orientation including assigning timecard pass codes
  • Maintain hiring related materials including all applications and interview forms
  • Serve as contact with Temporary Agency
  • Schedule Annual Training (Harassment, Open Door, Workplace Violence)
  • Track and Insure progressive discipline procedure/process is being followed consistently
  • Serve as a facilitator to insure all policies/procedures are administered in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Maintain employment records and advise management of new hire/promotion/temporary worker progression (30, 60, 90 day…) and insure performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain Job Descriptions and Essential Functions and update as necessary
  • Maintain Seniority list (DOH, Classification, Shift…) and update as necessary
  • Assist employees during the “Open Enrollment” process
  • Prepare the necessary documentation regarding hourly wage/job changes
  • Serve as contact for FMLA, determine status, track hours, maintain and prepare all documentation to comply with the FMLA procedure
  • Maintains training files for all employees including tracking any training (whether in-house or external) and completing certification forms for same
  • Assist transferring employees with relocation
  • Comply with all Local/State/Federal Employment Laws (i.e. practices, postings, updating changes to remain compliant)
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred, will substitute experience for degree.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must have high level of integrity, trust and ethical standards
  • Must have above average communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Must be able to maintain composure
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish)
  • Must be able to work either early mornings and/or late evenings, supporting a 24/7 facility.


Additional Information

This position may be with a Federal Contractor and as such, must comply with the U.S. government’s Executive Order requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated, including new hires.
