Job Description
Sr. Scientist, Long-Term InnovationThe perfect candidate for this position will have experience with utilizing trends, customer needs and internal communication to research, develop and implement new ingredients, technologies and methods to ensure internal teams have what they need to move PD forward. You will be a naturally curious, self-motivated leader with outstanding problem solving skills.The Sr. Scientist, Long-Term Innovation will lead the development of new ingredients and technologies with the main focuses on seasoning in the US and globally. This individual will lead concept ideation, investigate and assess new ingredients, collaborate with cross functional team for technology development and evaluation, design and lead overall long term strategy for the innovation program of the group to meet customers mid to long term needs.Responsibilities:Maintain a state-of-the-art depth and breadth of knowledge in the areas including food science, seasoning product development, flavor and dairy technology, sensory science etc.Write and execute mid to long term innovation programs and projects in support of the businessUnderstand, lead, interact and manage projects performed in cooperative research groups in the companyInvolvement in produce and process development to support seasoning product developmentHave routine, unsupervised contact with broad consultation with internal departments and business unitsHave latitude for decisions such as a technical program planning, project management and planning and technical assessment of customer needsCollaborate and guide technology transfer initiatives with regional R&D teamManage a group of junior scientists and lab techniciansTechnical Qualifications:M.S. in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry required, Ph.D. preferredMinimum 5 to 10 years of postgraduate experience, experience in product development, ingredient research and/or flavor research is requiredIntellectual curiosity, flexibility, demonstrate aptitude for complexity and innovative imagination and the ability to operate in grey space requiredThe ability to identify gaps in technical expertise or facilities and communicate / implement possible solutions requiredExperience leading projects and/or teams requiredStrong knowledge of sound experimental design requiredThe ability to communicate findings to senior technical leadership internally and customer externally requiredBasic understanding of product development, sensory science, material technology etc. requiredPassion for food is required, previous culinary training is a plusHigh degree of ownership and professional commitmentBi-Lingual and/or Global work experience preferredGood presentation skills preferred**If you d like to hear more about this opportunity and others we are currently working on, please contact Kristen Gawrys at kgawrys 1001.22KG#LI-KG1
