Job Description
Scientist, Food and Bakery ApplicationsYou will provide technical and formulation expertise and assist on food projects internally and externally including research and development of new products for bakery applications. Previous work on bakery applications is essential.Keys to the role:Broad formulation, ingredient development and food processing knowledge in BakeryExecute customer derived formulation creation, design, bench top work, flavor creation, and formula entriesCreating instruction for the pilot lab e.g., batching, mixing, food pilot plant processingProven success in formulation and application developmentDemonstrated experience in managing projects in accordance to set deadlinesWhat you will be doing:Perform hands-on benchtop evaluations of products for bakery applicationsDevelop prototype formulations utilizing understanding the impact on formula, ingredients interactions, and processingExplore new functionalities of existing products and support product developmentTrack relevant information related to product development & sample developmentWrite technical reports after analyzing and interpreting experimental resultsSupport scale up of products, batching and optimizationWork closely with internal and external customersFollow all environmental, health and safety protocolsOther key responsibilities:Ability to work on teams and independentlyAbility to apply fundamental technical understanding to interpret and analyze data to reach clear conclusionsAbility to use and troubleshoot technical issues and instrumentsDemonstrate ability to prioritize and manage complex projectsStrong communication skills both written and verbalMS Office proficiency: Excel, PowerPoint, WordTechnical Qualifications:Degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, or related scientific field4-7+ years experience in Bakery R&D / New Product Development, Technical Service, etc. ideally both at the ingredient and commercial bakery levelExperience working with a broad range of ingredients (and suppliers), formulations, applications, technologies, and processes in Baking IndustryExperience working with customers and in commercial bakeries (e.g., running trials)Familiar with a broad range of equipment typically found in commercial bakeriesAbility to travel up to 25%Experienced in working on ingredient technology development / applications in the food industryExcellent knowledge of baking process and the function of ingredients**If you d like to hear more about this opportunity and others we are currently working on, please contact Damon Wickmann at dwickmann 690.22DW#LI-DM2
