Electrical Engineer (Entry Level)

The Electrical Engineer will assist the electrical engineering team in the design of commercial AC power, lighting, fire alarm, and other systems for institutional, municipal, healthcare and academic building/facility projects. The Electrical Engineer will work as a integral part of a project team, ensuring the transition of design intent into construction documentation. This position will work under the direction of a licensed professional electrical engineer, giving the training and experience they will need to become licensed. This entry level Electrical Engineer will learn to coordinate with architects, mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) engineers, civil engineers and other disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Degree from a four year ABET/EAC accredited program
  • State Certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or able to become certified within 12 months
  • Building electrical systems experience is a plus
  • Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • Experience or internship with an electrical consulting engineering firm in the construction industry or with an electrical contractor is a plus
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other general office software
  • Skillful in organizing time, resources and tasks
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Able to take direction and execute assignments efficiently and correctly
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and looking for expanding responsibility
  • Skillful in organizing time, resources and tasks
  • Capable of learning software quickly and efficiently; this position will require considerable use of drafting software (Revit, MEP and AutoCAD), as well as lighting, fault current, energy code compliance, and other software.
  • Possess an understanding of electrical system theory and apply it to design tasks, such as using basic electrical formulas to calculate three-phase power, current, and other required quantities
