Job Description

Summary of Position:

Seeking an associate director to join the Biostatistics department to manage, oversee and coordinate the management of the registries. This is a strategic as well as a technical position. This individual will learn how each of the registries are currently set up, coordinate across numerous registries and facilitate discussion across the registry leads to ascertain best practices for registries going forward. This person must have a successful track record of managing highly technical individuals and overseeing the execution of multiple projects. Requires knowledge of database development (e.g. before the data comes to a biostatistician in a usable format). Requires knowledge of IT terms and nomenclature to interface with the IT team when necessary. Familiarity with the principles of research enterprise data management preferred. Must be a team player and leader. Must have the ability to see the big picture and future for registry work. Must be able to communicate highly technical issues to the executive team.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work with longitudinal registry data to provide input in database management and usage

· Provide technical leadership and operational oversight to support the registries

· Coordinate and facilitate productive discussion across registry leads to ascertain best practices

· Lead broad initiatives regarding the registries to standardize and prepare for future registries

· Ensure data is stored in the most efficient way

· Coordinate with the registry leads to train biostatisticians appropriately and efficiently

· Coordinate with Business Development team to anticipate business needs by providing timely and relevant data, e.g. provide counts at initial launch and periodic reports during follow-up

Skills and Experience:

· Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Biostatistics, Statistics or Mathematics or similar discipline required

· Minimum of 8-10 years of post-doctorate experience in a research, medical or pharma setting

· Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical epidemiology

· Knowledge of database development

· Preferred knowledge of registry development

· Must be highly proficient in at least one of the following statistical packages: SAS, Stata or R/S-plus and ability to become proficient in others

· Familiar with longitudinal data

· Proven ability to work independently with little supervision

· Has extensive management experience including supervising individuals and has provided critiques of performance

· Proven ability to gain consensus, make decisions and move projects forward

· Ability to explain highly technical concepts to senior management

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Remote position
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Travel within the US - up to 15%[i]
