There are hundred of plumbing companies out there. Many of them....well....they fail to live up to expectations. I know because I worked at them
I mean it's pretty simple.
Pay your guys good. Don't over work them. Treat them good. Give them nice vans. Equip them with tools and training and give them time off when they ask for it. Sprinkle in some good benefits and awesome coworkers and you have a recipe for success.
But why do so many fail to accomplish this
Well it's just one of those things that is easier said than done.
Owners get bogged down in the day to day operations and start to think of their people like robots. Treated them like junk and not realizing their value.
As you and I both know, we can only take this for so long before its on to the next place.
What I the owner has learned is that our people are our most important resource. Without the people, nothing happens. So why should I treat our most important resource like junk?
I shouldn't. And I don't
Now don't get me wrong. We mess up here and there, we aren't a perfect company, and when we mess up, we apologize and make it up to you.
But 9/10 we are looking out for you. We want to develop you. We want to make your life easier, your job easier. We want you to make the most amount of money while simplifying your job. We constantly think of ways to make things better.
We think, how can we attract great people, some with flaws yes...but people who have integrity, that are great teammates, people who aren't afraid of hard work but want to get compensated for it fairly...and then how do we retain those people.
It's easy to attract guys to a company with signing bonuses and broken promises, but they will soon smell through all the BS within a few months.
We know that we must keep our guys. We don't want to put all this time and effort into developing people only for them to leave.
So guess what. You don't have to be the perfect plumber. You don't have to know it all. We just need you to show up. We can develop you on what you don't know.
There is tons of opportunity, no shortage of work and plenty of money to go around.
There are plenty of opportunities for pay advanement
There is recognition, lots of it
There is commradrie (i spelled that wrong)...it's nice to work with guys you can joke with
And there is room for advancement in the company.
