Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will work with Amorphology's lead Gear Engineer to design and test prototypes and final products for key internal engineering projects. They will play a key role in ensuring the technical success of our projects by exercising a high level of strategic goal-setting, coordination between teams, and persistent execution of assigned projects.

Knowledge and Skills

•       Design, manufacture, assemble, implement, and test gears and gearboxes, including designing, implementing, and verifying the appropriate testing protocols.

•       Coordinate specifications of project success between the Marketing, Operation, and Technology departments.

•       Strong skills with CAD modeling; Solidworks experience preferred.

•       Build appropriate models by analyzing available materials and data, design and conduct materials tests to verify simulation results, and ensure quality control.

•       Experience using Kissoft gear design software.

•       Plan, oversee, implement, and manage assigned projects to ensure completion of projects according to scope, timelines, and specified goals.

•       Participate in design reviews from concept to product release, identifying risks and problems and developing risk mitigation/problem-solution plans.

•       Accomplish other tasks as assigned in a timely manner.

Education and Experience

·       BS in Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.

·       Hands-on engineering experience with multiple stages of the product design cycle: design, simulation, fabrication, performance evaluation, results analysis, etc.

·       Ability to manage various vendor relationships: raw material suppliers, equipment retailers, technical consultants, and software resellers.

·       Passion for the engaged and hands-on startup company environment.

·       Self-starter that takes the initiative and plans executes, and delivers against goals.


·       Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating gears and actuators.

·       Experience with the operation, maintenance, and building of LabVIEW programs.

·       Background and experience in Machine Design.
