Job Description

We are currently looking for a Mid-level Claims Data Analyst to join our team. The Data Analyst will have a passion for numbers, an exceptional eye for detail, expertise in manipulating large data sets, and a solid understanding of popular data analysis tools. This person will work closely with the Claims, Operations, and Management teams and will optimize across all facets of our claims business. This collaborative role will query data from multiple databases, perform a wide range of formal and ad hoc analyses, and look for ways to improve existing processes to deliver better insights to our stakeholders.

Salary

$90,000 - $130,000 DOE

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex insurance database models to generate meaningful statistics and reports, including fixing coding errors and other data-related problems
  • Develop and maintain internal processes and procedures to monitor KPI's, data integrity and work with development teams on quality control procedures
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to understand complex data and determine reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance
  • Prepare reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
  • Improve and streamline existing reports to work with new database structures and cloud environments
  • Create scheduled reports, daily, weekly, monthly, and annually
  • Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts
  • Analyze and develops algorithms using SSRS, RDL, MSSQL, and MS Excel; Prepare reports, graphs, and charts based on research and analysis
  • Create appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary
  • Write and maintain use case documents for business requirements

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative fields
  • 2+ years of work experience doing quantitative analysis in the insurance, banking, or finance industries
  • Understanding of common statistical methods and applications (A/B testing, probability, regression)
  • Advanced experience pulling large and complex data using SQL
  • Experience with a data visualization tool (e.g. SSRS)
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Aptitude for working with a diverse set of stakeholders and managing priorities
  • Experience with building dashboards and reports in visualization tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, learn autonomously, and highly organized

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Math, Economics, or related quantitative fields preferred
  • Experience working in the insurance claims industry
  • Ability to approach problems creatively and build structures out of ambiguous requests
