The above are locations of the practice’s clinics and privileged hospitals; all are approximately a 20-minute drive from each other, with each clinic located near its affiliated hospital.
This privately-owned surgical practice opened in 2012 and, today, operates with 4 physicians and 2 physician assistants. Together they staff 3 private practice offices and perform surgeries at neighboring hospitals in Teaneck, Oakland, and Westwood. They specialize in both general and colorectal surgeries, including surgical oncology, hernia, gallbladder disease, and advanced laparoscopic procedures.
The new physician assistant (PA) will work as a close partner to one of the surgeons in the practice.
Clinic days typically begin at 8:00am or 9:00am and end early, when the last patient appointment is completed. Clinic days are less than 8 hours, because the practice keeps daily volume low to balance with on-call weeks.
Services of the practice include, but are not limited to:
- hernia surgery
- gallbladder removal
- appendix removal
- colon and small bowel resection
- hemorrhoid surgery
- rectal tumor/polyp excision
In the inpatient setting, providers round on 5 to 8 patients per day. In the outpatient setting, they typically have 5 appointments per day.
In all settings, there are clinical assistants and/or nurses available to assist. All settings use an EHR system and are as paperless as possible.
The new PA will work collaboratively with the surgeon, but will have autonomous practice in the clinics. The PA may also choose to do some work with other surgeons during low-volume weeks for additional compensation, should they desire (this is not required).
The PA will be on-call every five (5) weeks. On-call weeks tend to be very busy and the PA must be available outside of office hours for overnights, as well as all weekend. The PA will only go in with the physician, never alone. Other weeks are scheduled with lighter volume and fewer hours to ensure overall work/life balance.
- New Jersey PA license
- 1+ year surgical PA experience
