Formerly the family home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, Cheekwood now serves the public as a botanical garden, arboretum, and museum with period rooms and art galleries. Cheekwood’s mission is to stimulate the mind and nurture the spirit, for not only our visitors, but our staff as well.
We are currently seeking a Junior Graphic Designer to join our marketing department. You will be contributing to Cheekwood’s visual presence and assisting with design projects including print and digital advertisements, brochures, signage, invitations, programs, and social media graphics. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, with a keen visual sense and strong attention to detail. The Junior Designer will assist with maintaining the digital asset management system which holds Cheekwood’s photo and video assets and updating on-site signage when needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain Cheekwood’s brand standards and think creatively to produce new ideas while maintaining consistency and integrity across all materials
- Assist Senior Graphic Designer with designing Cheekwood collateral, including, but not limited to, letterhead, maps, visitor guides, programs, membership materials and rack brochures
- Create designs for multiple formats including digital ads for online, email and social media
- Consult with the Senior Graphic Designer, marketing team, partners, and outside vendors to produce strong visual communications
- Work with printers and distributors to manage production of jobs
- Upload photos and videos to the digital asset management system for interdepartmental use. Ensuring that the files are labeled and tagged appropriately
- Utilize the project tracking software, Jira to update and manage all projects
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, or related field
- Minimum of one-year job-related experience
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Strong organizational skills, both for project coordination and graphic file management
- Excellent time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and communicate timeline expectations
- Ability to work independently in a high-energy, fast-paced work environment
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Organized, self-motivated and goal-oriented
