CDR Maguire Engineering has an immediate hiring need for a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) for our Montoursville, PA office. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company and to build and lead survey teams and projects.

As one of our professional project land surveyors, you will consult with clients, prepare proposals, perform deed and plan research, boundary and topographic surveys, data collection and survey calculations. You'll provide technical oversight of the practice to include quality assurance and quality control of procedures and work product, monitor field and office procedures to assure a high level of consistent work product and service. You'll assist with the identification and recruitment of key personnel and will mentor and train the survey staff to assure professional growth and development.

Description:
  • Perform quality control of survey plans, record plats, descriptions, and reviews of title commitments.
  • Responsible for retracing and creating property boundaries for roads, pipelines, facility sites, and other right of ways and easements.
  • Apply field techniques related to boundary retracement, design support, and construction surveying support.
  • Collects information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, recorded documents, and other relevant information.
  • Compiles survey computations with applicable standards to determine the adequacy of data.
  • Compiles information necessary to stake projects for construction, using design plans.
  • Oversees the CAD standards for employees and subcontractors for the organization as well as communicating and directing the field crews as to what is needed on specific jobs.
  • Understand jurisdictional requirements and PA Municipal Planning Process.
  • Perform field survey work as needed.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their needs and review projects.
  • Manage surveying and geospatial projects.
  • Prepare, instruct and coordinate the work of field staff performing surveying and geospatial services on assigned projects.
  • Serve as client point of contact and prepare client deliverables, including but not limited to: legal descriptions, boundary descriptions, boundary resolutions, cost estimates for project proposals.
  • Conduct site/field visits as needed.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional surveying experience.
  • Associates or Bachelors in Survey Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, or other related field preferred.
  • Pennsylvania Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
  • Experience in Oil and Natural Gas a plus.
  • Experience leading survey teams and projects.
  • Prepare/review daily data, and oversee the monitoring of field survey crews.
  • Strong Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modeling.
  • Entrepreneurial personality with developing new services and market opportunities.
  • Business development experience and network of existing contacts.
  • Expertise with technological advances, principles, techniques, and practices of land surveying and other geospatial/remote sensing services.
  • Extensive project management experience, including client management, preparation of estimates and proposals, budget tracking, invoicing, and scheduling.
  • Staff management experience, including training coordination, mentoring, interviewing, and performance reviews.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively and provide guidance to managers and staff in other design practices.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with Team members.
  • Active involvement in organizations related to the profession or consulting industry is a plus.
