CAS is currently seeking a Senior Accountant. This position will be based in our headquarters in Columbus, OH.

 

Division Overview

 

The Finance division supports the financial activities of CAS, as well as ACS International, ensuring: the formulation of sustaining fiscal policy & strategy, the execution of sound financial decisions, the accurate fiscal management of business strategies and operations, and the safeguarding of the Society’s assets. Directing the fiscal affairs of CAS in accordance with organizational policies, U.S. GAAP, and internal control procedures includes: budgeting & forecasting including short and long-term financial planning and analysis; accounting & compliance including audits, both financial and managerial analyses and reporting of operations, foreign exchange management, credit & collections, fiscal administration of contracts, billing operations, procurement & disbursements, travel processing, sales incentive administration, project tracking/costing, and tax administration.

 

Position Summary

 

This position will report to the Manager of International Accounting. Responsibilities include general ledger accounting, budgeting and forecasting (including variance analysis), international compliance filings and financial reporting as it relates to ACS’ international subsidiaries. The position will assist with month-end accounting closing processes, international wire payments, foreign currency translation, expense report reviews and ad-hoc analysis for multiple international subsidiaries. Duties may include (but are not limited to) tax research, international benefits/insurance review and working with outside accounting firms.

 

Along with the rest of Finance management, this position is responsible for helping ensure ACSI meets or exceeds all financial performance targets, assist in facilitating adherence to outside auditing internal control requirements and provide assistance so that ACSI experiences a clean financial audit. This position works with staff from all divisions, so very strong interpersonal communications skills and working well within a team environment are essential.

 

Position Accountabilities

 

  • Prepare and record/review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations as well as assist with the corporate consolidation for international entities.

 

  • Ensure all accounting subsystems are appropriately posted to the general ledger.

 

  • Assist in the monthly closing and financial reporting process.

 

  • Ensure timely analysis and completion of balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis for all international entities.

 

  • Create and maintain ad hoc financial reports and research accounting issues as they arise, ensuring compliance with GAAP and/or IFRS, as necessary.

 

  • Provide assistance in the coordination of the annual financial statement audit (interim and final) with external auditors and CAS Finance staff.

 

  • Provide prompt, clear and professional correspondence to inquiries from both internal staff/customers and external customers.

 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.

 

 

  • Assists the business in the preparation of ACSI forecasts and budgets.

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major emphasis in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or actively working toward CPA, preferred
  • PeopleSoft, nVision, and Hyperion/Essbase experience preferred
  • Accounting or Finance background required with at least 6 years of progressive experience
  • Proven financial analysis skills, including completing complex account reconciliations and/or analyses
  • Ability to collaborate and take direction
  • Detail oriented with a proactive focus on accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting agreed-upon deadlines
  • An aptitude for exceeding customer expectations demonstrated by excellent interpersonal communication skills and an ability to effectively interact with all levels throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office applications (particularly Advanced Excel and Word)

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

 

  • While performing the responsibilities of the position, the worker may exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently or 20 pounds occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This position is considered sedentary work which involves sitting most of the time. The worker is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands. The worker is required to talk and hear. The worker is often required to use their wrists, hands and/or fingers, to handle, grasp or feel, making substantial movements. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
