Full Time Generalist Position
8:30am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday and rotating Saturdays (8:00am-5:00pm)
This position is primarily responsible for performing routine and/or complex tests, demonstrates thorough knowledge of laboratory operations, including theoretical aspects of test procedure, and includes ability to discern unusual test results and make appropriate corrections. Professionally answer all phone calls when interacting with patients, clients, or staff. Ability to demonstrate a positive professional image.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Runs calibration and QC for all assigned instruments and kits.
Runs assigned proficiency testing, reviews and reports the results. Takes appropriate corrective action when needed.
Communicates all technical, accessioning, and IT issues, accessioning in a timely manner to prevent delaying patient results.
Communicates and documents all critical results with clients.
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic instrument maintenance.
Abides by all CAP regulations and performs all required documentation.
Reviews and resolves all pending work prior to the end of shift
Maintains adequate supply of reagents on hand and submits replenishment requests in a timely manner when new reagents need to be ordered.
Calls physician for required missing clinical information and documents the name of person who provided the information.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of and compliance with established technical, administrative and lab policies and procedures.
Maintains a safe, clean working environment compliant with established policies and procedures of regulatory agencies.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required
- MT (ASCP/AMT) or MLT(ASCP/AMT) certification or equivalent
- 2+ years experience required
