Director of Talent and Human Resources

Director of Talent and Human Resources responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops, designs and implements talent and human resources strategic planning for the network.

  • Works with hiring managers and network personnel to plan for needs and draft/maintain job descriptions.

  • Leads full cycle staff recruitment for all positions.

  • Completes background screening, reference checks, etc. for all new hires.

  • Confirms all pre-hire and hiring paperwork is completed and accurately stored.

  • Assists with the implementation and maintenance of new HRIS.

  • Responsible for advertising platforms, tracking candidates, hiring staff, creating interview processes, etc.

  • Works with hiring managers and employees to resolve employee concerns and disciplinary issues.

  • Conducts employee investigations and holds pre-disciplinary meetings as needed.

  • Drafts and supports staff evaluation and disciplinary correspondence.

  • Guides instructional staff through New York State and Connecticut certification process.

  • Monitors progress toward certification through individualized certification plans and provides resources to individuals seeking certification.

  • Assists with the implementation of wellness programs, benefits programs, employee engagement initiatives, and analyzing HR analytics.

  • Assist with compliance related matters, inclusive of state reporting, FMLA, ADA, intervention plans, monitoring certification/licensure, etc.

  • Oversees onboarding processes to create a seamless transition for new staff.

  • Acts as the contact person for certification pipeline relationships such as TFA and Relay and NYU.

  • Stays current on trends and laws impacting employment and monitors compliance regarding the same.

  • Tracks employee mandated trainings and manages compliance with the same.

  • Assists in the creation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy and executes the same.

  • Meet with school leaders to plan for positions and talent streams.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with colleges and university placement offices.

  • Engages with potential candidates and applicants.

  • Researches, analyzes, and presents hiring, retention statistics.

  • Conducts exit interviews and presents findings about the same.

  • Develops retention strategies to positively shape adult culture.

  • Works across departments and schools to create collaborative process for hiring, supporting, and exiting staff.

  • Manages intent to return and hiring letters for returning staff.

  • Resolves benefit related issues and acts as a liaison with the 401k and insurance brokers.

  • Supports school-based Directors of Operations on unemployment processes.

  • Performs audits of employment files and manages compliance.

  • Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration.

  • Expertise of teacher certification rules in Connecticut and New York

Educational Background and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or better

  • Experience in charter school environment preferred, school experience required

  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources and/or recruiting experience desired

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time salaried exempt position.
