Objective

Responsible for process automation and controls that drive high performance, quality, and safety across all production facilities. This position reports to the VP, Brewing Operations

Summary

CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective is seeking an experienced and ambitious Process Engineer/ Automation Engineer/Controls Engineer to join our growing team. This position offers an opportunity for independent, hands-on responsibilities in a fast-paced, data-driven, and continuous improvement focused environment. Additionally, this role will require one to interface across production, maintenance, and operations departments to create and track critical metrics, troubleshoot inefficiencies and equipment concerns, and influence lasting, positive change.



Requirements:

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain all quality standards set for maintenance operations at CANarchy facilities
  • Program and maintain PLCs
  • Design, program, and continually develop controls software and PLCs for brewery processes
  • Implement and maintain SCADA platform to integrate data with equipment controls
  • Coordinate and support integration of new and existing automations into SCADA architecture
  • Support implementation and integration of process changes and equipment upgrades
  • Provide technical leadership and support that drive data integrity, HMI interfacing, alarming, and actionable historical data
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures, change management, and version control of applicable software and controls implementations
  • Ensure critical control points are continuously monitored and alarms are triggered any time process and/or product quality is compromised
  • Maintain electrical drawings, process diagrams, functional descriptions of processes , and other controls systems documentation
  • Lead by example and use time wisely
  • Support team-oriented environment that promotes employee engagement and empowerment
  • Understand and adhere to safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment
  • Engage in improvement projects coordinated through the Operations Leadership Team
  • Communicates effectively and timely using either email, phone, text or verbal tools

Additional Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pumps, valves, plumbing, process piping systems, automated equipment, fluid dynamics, high-speed packaging equipment, plant utility systems, steam, compressed air systems
  • Breakdown original equipment manufacturer (OEM) PLC/HMI logic and implement changes to improve OEE across production
  • Communicate effectively across departments
  • Demonstrate reliability and responsible decision making
  • Support all departments when situations warrant and make connections between processes


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in in food/beverage processing or similar industry
  • Engineering experience with brewing and beverage packaging equipment is preferred, experience with food processing equipment is desirable
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC
  • Understanding of Ignition, databases, SQL, and related programming languages
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to work well at a fast pace in high pressure situations

Physical & Mental Requirements

Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations. Required to frequently to lift 50 lbs to shoulder height and push or pull 160 lbs. pounds. Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, talk, hear, taste, smell, see, and operate objects, tools, and controls. May be required to work overnight shifts.

  • Tools & Equipment Used: Computer, Phone, Tablet, Brewery equipment, Pallet Jack, Forklift, Scissor Lift
