CADDmin Consulting is seeking a customer focused, technically savvy, and highly motivated Technical Writer to join our team. The Technical Writer will create clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation that instructs users how to navigate and troubleshoot Architectural, Engineering, Construction (AEC) software and hardware. This individual will collaborate with other team members to gain expert-level knowledge on the software and technology.
Writing: research, establish what content is required, determine scope, and write technical documentation for, or in collaboration with engineers; assess effort required to develop and complete entry through expert-level documentation.
Editing: Refine documentation to incorporate redlines (engineer markups and comments) resulting from a multi-pass document development environment. Review and check documents generated by others for accuracy, completeness, formatting, branding, etc. Revise existing technical documents according to engineering requests.
Develop: storyboard scripts for instructional videos that explain technology concepts and common tasks, conduct internal training courses on script writing.
Assist team in developing documents for assessing and tracking workload and understanding technology concepts and new features in department and for monitoring project status.
Exercise initiative in composing technical proposals, make decisions and recommendations to optimize benefits for CADDmin and customers, guided by customer requirements and CADDmin policies.
Establish, author, and update documentation to maintain consistent appearance and structure of technical manuals, white papers, and other AEC tech related documents across delivery platforms; Print, Desktop, Web, Mobile.
Excel at collaboration within a team of writers working toward project goals.
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience in technical writing or equivalent experience of 5+ years of technical writing in an engineering environment.
Technical Software writing experience preferred, Technical Communication certificates a plus.
Ability to transcribe dictation of a technical topic(s) to a clear concise document/memo, etc.
Proficiency with Madcap Flare and MS Office software (e.g., Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel) required, experience in HTML5, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and RoboHelp is preferred.
Excellent technical topical writing and presentation skills and strong verbal communication skills required.
Experience with database programs such as Access, SQL, or MySQL a plus. Familiarity with CADD tools a plus (AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, Microstation).
Engineering aptitude as demonstrated by ability to describe the AEC digital design process, software requirements, schematics, detailed diagrams, production environment, testing environment, maintenance or repair of AEC software or hardware to technical and/or non-technical audiences.
Organizational skills, ability to set and meet deadlines, and self-motivation capabilities are essential.
