2D hull Designer-
Must have 5 years Experience in the above Design field
Must be able to pass background check
Must be able to pass drug screen
Prefer marine experience on Commercial Vessels.Structural aptitude and system knowledge required.Familiar with Regulatory Body requirements. Auto CAD and Ship Constructor experience is required. Experienced in developing electrical equipment arrangements. Also experienced in developing wiring and block diagrams. Cable routing experience a plus. Capable of checking other designers work.
Designs detail of work Coordinates with other sections when appropriate. Checks drawings when appropriate Ensures CAD standards are followed. Designs to the shipyard standards and common material where possible. Ensures work meets requirements of applicable Regulatory Body and job specifications. Follows shipyard standard practices and procedures (i.e. PRN’s, ECP’s, EAR’s, Budget Requests, drawing check out, etc.). Coordinates and reviews required vendor information. Coordinates with other personnel as appropriate. Incorporates and documents owner, regulatory body, and other governing bodies’ comments.
Designs components or portions or machinery systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or Ship Constructor. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.
Level 3 - Associate's or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience. A combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of a degree
