C. Geyer Construction specializes in site development and excavation. We are looking to hire an experienced Project Estimator to manage multiple accounts and can develop competitive estimates for commercial / government projects around 1 million to 5 million dollars.
The project estimator job involves reading blueprints and developing bids for multiple jobs. Completing tasks such as identifying and understanding project requirements, determining key variables, conducting research, looking up or checking up on offers from vendors and subcontractors, maintaining relationships with key vendors, and estimating manpower needs.
The Project Estimator is expected to plan and monitor projects efficiently within the department, liaising and analyzing with the team members the conditions and processes that are necessary to reach the project objectives.
The main responsibility of a Project Estimator revolves around managing the operation of projects right from conception, to planning and execution, ensuring that clear areas of duties are defined, and areas of dependency are monitored and delivered upon.
As the Project Estimator he/she will help manage and maintain external stakeholder relationships to ensure healthy and appropriate communication and smooth workflows to and from such stakeholders.
Furthermore, in the process of performing his/her major duties and responsibilities, the Project Estimator is expected to understand the project and its requirements, determine key variables for cost and other estimates, and gather accurate first-hand information from sites, warehouses, or other venues.
Other tasks include obtaining and critically reviewing offers and quotes by vendors or subcontractors; implementing the use of relevant software for billing; forecasting and budgeting; and preparing general reports and recommendations to clients.
In addition, we are interested in individuals who have a strong background in mathematics and comfortable working in a deadline driven environment. The Project Estimator will be responsible for listing and ordering materials needed to complete contracted projects.
He/she must also possess the ability to effectively manage projects, think analytically, and demonstrate sound negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills. A background in construction is preferred.
In terms of academic qualifications, individuals interested are preferred to possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Science, or in any other relevant discipline, with adequate professional experience.
