Career Planning Specialist

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Career Planning Specialist. This is a temporary part-time grant funded position that will begin immediately and continue as long as grant funds are available to support the position.
Reporting to Assistant Dean of Advising and Career Planning, the Career Planning Specialist is responsible for serving as a liaison between the College, advisory committees, and businesses/industries with regard to potential employment opportunities for students and graduates, including co-ops, internships, externships, practicums, and job development. Responsible for assisting students in developing skills and behaviors needed to effectively engage in internship and/or employment. Assist with resume and cover letter writing and interviewing skills. Provide career information by working with faculty, admissions, classroom presentations, career fairs and workshops. Prepare an annual career services report that includes statistical data and narration. Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field required. Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field preferred. Counseling/academic advising experience required. Community college experience preferred. Experience in assisting individuals in career counseling in an educational or social services setting preferred. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well with various constituencies including external employers. Computer proficiency required. Knowledge with Microsoft Office software preferred.
Hourly rate will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. In addition to degree programs, BC3 has a public safety training facility at its main campus that serves 15,000 students annually for business training, industrial safety training, and public safety - fire, EMS, Hazmat, and police training.
