Description
The Staff Instrument & Controls \(I&C\) Engineer will work with either multi\-disciplinary or controls\-specific engineering teams to develop of Electrical & Controls Engineering design packages, perform calculations and develop engineering solutions in support of maintenance or capital projects in a variety of locations in the food & beverage, pharmaceutical / life sciences, consumer products and chemical industries\.

  • Prepare control systems \(DCS and/or PLC\), Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems \(CEMS\) and instrument contracts\.
  • Develop detailed scope documents to identify how the upgrade/migration will be executed\.
  • Develop one\-line diagrams, lighting and ground plans
  • Conduct Power System studies
  • Prepare instrumentation design deliverables, including Instrument List, Instrument Construction Specifications, Instrument Installation Details, and Instrument Location Plans\.
  • Develop of piping and instrumentation diagrams \(P&ID's\) and equipment subcontract package specifications\.
  • Prepare instrument and control system specifications, instrument and instrument valve data sheets, request for quotation \(RFQ\) and technical bid summaries\.
  • Design control system logic and configuration, graphic interfaces, and Input/Output \(I/O\) lists\.
  • Manage vendor I/O and instrument lists; coordinate I/O to determine partitioning of the control system hardware\.
  • Verify and perform design calculations, project studies and report preparation\.
  • Develop specifications and site study for design of systems; provide assistance with P&ID design including instrumentation and related mechanical design\.
  • Evaluate technical bids and managing vendor contracts\.
  • Review and approving vendor drawings\.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests, control wiring design, and logic design\.
  • Provide technical assistance during commissioning at project site\.
  • Perform quality reviews of project submittals\.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies\.
  • All other duties as assigned\.
Qualifications
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering but will consider Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program along with the necessary years of experience in controls and automation\.
  • Engineer\-In\-Training \(EIT\) Certification recommended\.
  • 4 years related experience\. Completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience\.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills\.
  • Attention to detail\.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information\.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software \(i\.e\., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access\)\.
  • Valid driver's license required\. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy\.
