### Summary

**This announcement may be used to fill more than one position at

### Responsibilities

The incumbent functions as an Engineering Equipment Operator. The
primary purpose of this position is to operate a variety of gasoline
or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment in
all terrain environments to include mountainous, remote, and steep
slope environments characterized by graded curves and shoulders,
rocky or soft ground, and hilly forests. May also operate other
types of motor vehicles and be responsible for maintaining assigned
equipment, and perform additional non-grade controlling duties.

**Physical Effort**: Heavy physical effort is used by the operator
in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms,
feet, and legs to handle controls to operate the equipment and
attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration
of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over
rough surfaces. in Addition, the physical effort is strenuous
because of the large pieces of equipment and the requirement
for more frequent adjustments under more adverse operating
conditions.

**Working Conditions:** The operation of larger and more
complicated equipment in more difficult circumstances increases the
exposure to injury, overturning, noise, and vibration.

This position falls under the Job Qualification System for Trades
and Labor Occupations.

This position requires possession and maintenance of a valid
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate special
endorsements to perform the work of the position The license must be
obtained prior to being assigned operator duties.

D.O.T. DRUG TESTING REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. This position
requires possession of a Commercials Driver's License (CDL). As
such, it is a Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position (TDP)
under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. If
the person selected for the position does not currently occupy a CDL
Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position, he/she will be
required to submit to and receive a negative test result prior to
appointment. A positive drug or alcohol test result may be grounds
for denying final placement into this position. In addition, the Act
mandates that the incumbent will be subject to random drug and
alcohol testing and that he/she may also undergo reasonable
suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.

This position requires you to wear all applicable Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with the job.

If selected for this position you will need to complete the Federal
Information Systems Security Awareness (FISSA) training prior to
start date (if applicable).

### Qualifications

OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will
be used in determining applicant's qualifications. There is no
specific length of training or experience required; however, the
applicant must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in
the resume materials that they possess the skill level that has
equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and
abilities to successfully perform the duties of Engineering
Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer
work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;
philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and
skills and can provide valuable training and experience that
translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for
all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the
closing date of the announcement.

non-pay status is not creditable towards meeting the specialized
experience requirement. Please include in your resume (on the first
line of each job experience section), the dates you were placed in
and out of pay status.

**Selective Placement Factors:** This position requires special
qualifications that have been determined to be essential to perform
the duties and will be used as a screen out elements. Those who do
not provide evidence they possess the following will be rated not
qualified:

**Screen out 1:** Ability to do the work of the position without
more than normal supervision.

**Screen out: 2**: You must possess a valid and current **Commerical
Drivers License (CDL), Class A**.

Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid by the Department of
the Interior. Any travel, transportation and relocation expenses
associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the

May require completion of a one year probationary period.

This position is not eligible for Telework.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the
qualifications above.

Upon receipt of your complete application package, a review of your

you meet the qualification requirements, your application will be
