Job Description

 The Payroll Accounting Clerk will work under the supervision of the Payroll Analyst responsible for payroll-related tasks. The Payroll Clerk's responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records.  The Payroll Clerk will work with multiple entities and divisions and is responsible for familiarity with each of the operations.

Due to COVID19, this position will telecommute temporarily, then return to the Corporate Accounting Office in Galt, CA. Normal business hours for this non-exempt role are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. 

Responsibilities for Assigned Division:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.
  • Participate in routine Teams/Zoom/Webex video conferences
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately.
  • Processes wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner and assist employees with general process questions.
  • Review timesheets for correctness before payroll transactions.
  • Update and maintain employee records and process termination checks.
  • Prepares a variety of payroll-related documents (e.g., voluntary and involuntary contributions, W-2 controls, verification of employment and salary, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Resolves discrepancies with payroll and/or benefit information and/or documentation (e.g., payroll, benefits provider/s, withholding versus W4, salary status, late hires, leaves of absence, separating employees, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of records and employee payments. Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns.
  • Maintain payroll records and follow established company policies to ensure compliance with internal control protocols
  • Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
  • Accounting Special project as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Time management especially during temporary telecommuting schedules
  • Working knowledge of basic payroll practices and accounting principles.
  • Experience working with MS Office, accounting, and payroll software (e.g. UltiPro, ADP).
  • Must possess good analytical skills, problem-solving skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrate strong business ethics and comfortable with maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently while meeting deadlines through proper time-management.
  • Perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed
  • Detail-oriented.

Education/Experience:

 

Degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
