Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in production activities at facilities. This may include supervision of the plant and shipping. This is an exempt position, and should only include supervisory employees who spend at least 50% of their time performing supervisory work (not the work of the subordinates).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Inspects machinery and materials and reports findings to Production Manager.
Helps in the planning of priorities and sequence of production orders to meet schedule.
Helps trains production workers in equipment operation.
Assists Production Manager with safety program.
Applies company policies and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
Recommends measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the production area. Directly supervises laborer workforce. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training. Prior experience supervising preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
