Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or more senior leader. He/she may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. The Electrical Engineer may work on several concurrent projects. The Electrical Engineer has gained extensive experience in all areas of electrical or mechanical design and is a recognized expert in his/her discipline.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer

· Translate customer requirements and specifications into overall design strategy and technology

· Create and maintain program develop timelines

· Develop robust technical solutions from concept through production

· Conduct appropriate engineering analysis and select materials

· Mark up drawings and work with designers to develop high quality drawings

· Perform tolerance stack-ups on new design and product changes

· Set direction with vendors and electrical technicians to build prototypes

· Work with layout inspector to verify prototypes; meet design intent

· Write test reports that include conclusions and recommendations

· Establish test criteria for design validation and knowledge building sub-system test

· Maintain open issues list during development; supervise running of test

· Prepare engineering documentation including but not limited to DFMEA, DVP&R, Lessons Learned and design assumptions

· Formally release all product requirements into the system

· Conduct design reviews internally and with customers

· Ensure electrical MRDs are met on time

· Establish production feasibility of designs working with vendors, engineers, and plant colleagues

· Generate and follow-up on cost reductions

· Communicate with other engineers to help develop product strategy

· for standardization


Required Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Electrical Engineer

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

· 5+ years product engineering on electrical assemblies experience required

· 2 years working with automotive customers

· Knowledge of customer specifications and competitive technical solutions

· Computer literate

· Knowledge of electronics manufacturing methods

· Knowledge of basic EMC design

· Knowledge of basic embedded controller design and programming

· Excellent verbal, technical writing, interpersonal and organizational skills required

· Ability to manage multiple projects

· Knowledgeable of Circuit Analysis, 8D, CAD, DOE, GD&T, DFMEA, EMC design, Robust Design, and PTS required but will train

· Work generally performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions
