Position Purpose:

Assists Warehouse Specialist II in maintaining inventory and transaction records, and in receiving, storing, and disbursing materials and supplies.

Essential Functions:

Assists Warehouse Specialist II in maintaining control and accountability for materials and supplies.
  • Assists in receiving incoming materials from suppliers. Verifies that the material identity and quantity comply with shipping/purchase order documentation when received . Also assists in verifying that the received material is in good condition. Completes coding material for control documentation as needed.
  • Assists in storing and identifying accountable materials in compliance with established procedures.
  • Helps maintain inventory records of stock materials. Works together with the Warehouse Specialist II to conduct inventory counts as required and account for any count variation.
  • Assists Warehouse Specialist II with Storm Readiness

Assists with for disbursements of materials and supplies utilizing barcoding software.
  • Aids in assembling and issuing materials and supplies from inventory to authorized personnel according to established procedures. Helps to maintain records that reflect impact of transactions on inventory levels.
  • Aids in assembling special material orders for new construction or maintenance projects.
  • Helps coordinate material transfers to major projects or to other facilities.

Assists in maintaining storage facility and control operations.
  • Works in coordination with other warehouse personnel to ensure that warehouse and storage area are maintained and operated according to OSHA requirements and internal procedures.
  • Helps with keeping material stored and stacked in a safe manner and ensuring the facility is clean and maintained in an orderly manner.
  • Assists in ensuring that forklift is operated in a safe and efficient manner and that it is checked and verified to be in sound operating condition.
  • Examines returned materials from construction and maintenance projects and helps to determine if materials should be disposed of or returned to inventory as requested. Maintains records of transactions performed. Checks with Manager, Purchasing & Fleet on questionable items.

Other Duties:
  • Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to Manager, Purchasing & Fleet.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.

  • Must have and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license.
  • Ability to use a computer, calculator, and bar coding device.
  • Ability to lift 50 to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 25 to 30 pounds above head, sometimes repeatedly for a short period of time.
  • Ability to push by hand approximately 250 pounds, sometimes with use of a dolly.
  • Ability to use tools such as, but not limited to, two-wheel dolly, fork jack, fork-lift, electric hoist.
  • Ability to count and compare values (to determine wire gauge, footage per pound of wire, etc...).
