Job Description

Browne Labor Law is a small employee rights law firm in Santa Monica, California. We serve clients across California and represent employees dealing with a multitude of issues, including harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. We are hiring an attorney to join our team. This position can be remote.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starter who can help us with our cases, including taking and defending depositions, conducting written discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and trial assistance. The successful applicant will work with David Browne and Devin Coyle of Devin Coyle Law (Devin is based in the Bay Area). Browne Labor Law and Devin Coyle Law co-counsel on all cases. We need help with our typical cases but are also interested in growing our wage and hour practice. While this is an at-will position, our desire is to hire someone who can take on a significant amount of responsibility from the start and who can grow with us and our firms.

Responsibilities:

  • Client management

  • Prepare complaints, written discovery, affirmative motions, opposing motions, and general law and motion work

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Attend client mediations

  • Settlement negotiations

  • Trial preparation

  • Trial assistance

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed attorney in California

  • 2-10 years of employment litigation experience preferred

  • Wage and hour litigation experience preferred but not required

  • Superior analytical, research, and writing skills

  • Superior verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized

  • Excellent critical thinking skills

  • Team player with a great attitude is essential

  • Great work ethic

 

Salary:

  • Commensurate with experience. We are open to hiring an experienced litigator or a candidate less years of experience. We think that the ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of employment litigation experience.

 

Work Location:

  • Flexible. We have an office in Santa Monica, CA that is available, but it is not required that the attorney work at this location.

 

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday preferred.

 

Benefits:

  • 401k. Browne Labor Law currently does not need a health insurance plan but the firm is absolutely open to providing this benefit to a successful applicant.
