Brown Emergency Medicine (Brown EM) is the academic emergency medicine physician practice plan of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Brown EM provides emergency department staffing for Rhode Island Hospital, the only Level I trauma center in this region; Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Rhode Island’s only children’s specialty hospital; The Miriam Hospital, a leading community teaching hospital and Newport Hospital, a community Magnet Hospital. Brown EM member physicians and providers treat over 250,000 patients per year at our 4 clinical sites, drawing patients from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Brown EM is looking for a full time, 36-38 hours per week Advanced Practice Provider with at least ONE year of experience in an Emergency Department. The job will entail working in multiple areas of the department including urgent, fast-track, and observation areas in conjunction with board certified emergency physicians and residents in a teaching environment.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative healthcare services
- Taking medical histories
- Examine and treat patients
- Order and interpret laboratory test
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging
- Diagnose patients
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Treat minor injuries
- Suture, splint, and cast
The qualifications for this position are:
- Master's Degree in nursing and certificate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Masters prepared Physician Assistant
- Current Licensure
- At least one year experience in an Emergency Department setting; Level I Trauma Center preferred
