Bilingual Safety Specialist

Brown Brothers Asphalt and Concrete (BBAC) is looking for a highly motivated individual to be our Bilingual Safety Specialist.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Design and manage BBAC's overall safety program, in accordance with state and federal regulations (particularly OSHA)

· Build, audit and manage Department of Transportation (DOT) driver records, and assist other departments to comply with DOT regulations

· Be the primary safety trainer. and coordinate safety training with appropriate vendor(s) as needed

· Coordinate random and post-accident drug tests and physicals as appropriate

· Maintain HIPAA-compliant confidentiality and professional discretion at all times

· Manage the personal protective equipment (PPE) program and inventory

· Conduct weekly audits / inspections of job sites

· Conduct accident investigations and provide effective recommendations for positive change

· Write and present various safety-related reports to all levels of management

· Assist the Director of Risk Management with insurance claims (auto and workers comp)

· Duties may be modified as needed, to align with BBAC needs

· Able to drive and work outdoors in inclement weather conditions

Requirements for this position include:

· At least five (5+) years of commercial construction safety experience

· Certified OSHA Trainer, able to issue 10 / 30 hour cards to construction staff

· Bilingual fluency in both (spoken and written) English and Spanish, are essential

· Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels

· Proficiency with MS Office applications necessary, including Excel, Word and Outlook

· A working background in asphalt and/or concrete is highly desired

· Experience working with general contractors is preferred

· Maintain an acceptable driving record, since regular travel between BBAC locations, and job sites, is required

· Ability to travel out-of-state on occasion is very helpful

· DOT-level driving experience is helpful

Education:

· High School degree is required. A college degree in Safety Management or a related field, is preferred

· Professional safety certifications (e.g. CHMM, CSP, CHSP) are helpful
