POSITION SUMMARY: Are you a dancer, with a knack for marching band? Do you believe in the Empowerment of Young Women and minorities? Can you choregraph, plan and implement a dynamic, All-American dance program? Do you specialize in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop and majorette? If you answered yes, then you'll want to consider a future with the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute teaching middle schoolers how to dance both in person and virtually.


The Director of "Brooklyn Dance" is the primary person responsible for all dance education and performances throughout the community, and with our marching bands.


The Director of "Brooklyn Dance" is required to facilitate dance instruction in all pertinent dance styles through an established curriculum and provide assessment of student outcomes in regard to participation and achievement.


The Director is also expected to be part of the creative team that produces all of the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute performances - including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Teachers are a critical component of the success of the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute.



General responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.


Be fully committed to the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute mission of providing a quality college preparatory education in an intentional community of faith, belief and practice. Able to affirm through exhibiting personal and professional support of the Institute's mission, standards of conduct.


  • Facilitate a positive and productive learning environment
  • Provide substantial opportunities for student achievement
  • Provide for instruction of applicable course content
  • Create lesson plans and course syllabus
  • Update and maintain curriculum guides for all courses assigned
  • Assess student achievement and mastery of content
  • Responsible for student grading/evaluation within timeline and deadlines set by Leadership
  • Respond to email in a timely manner and be available for regular conference periods to assist parents and students as needed
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with parents or guardians about student progress
  • Attend All Professional Development days and training sessions, scheduled events/meetings involving employee’s department, all Admissions events.


Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time, including, but not limited to, supervision of traffic flow/parking areas, student breaks/lunches, extra-curricular functions, Travel, Uniforms and general enforcement of campus standards, as assigned by Principal or designee


Be an example of Professionalism and maturity to students, families and colleagues.

Collaborate, interact and work well with others, including students, parents and guardians, staff, faculty, administration, alumni, vendors and any other personnel involved with the Institute or education process.


Adhere to the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute policies, procedures, and guidelines; as well as applicable industry and employment regulations.


Additional Requirements:

A good, helpful attitude and a team spirit is the Brooklyn Music & Leadership Institute.

The employee is expected to be at the work site during the hours prescribed by leadership.


Terms of Employment:

11-month employment

Regular/ Part-Time-time/ At-Will

Reporting hours 2:00 pm - 6:00pm
