Organization Overview
Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to those transitioning from or at risk of homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. Additionally, we implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteran services, and health care sectors.

Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a new position that will support senior staff in developing and implementing the organization's first-ever strategic communications plan to enhance both internal and external communications and support business development. We are seeking an outstanding writer and editor who can quickly digest complex content and produce high quality materials for a variety of audiences. This individual will work across programmatic areas at Brilliant Corners, requiring the ability to set priorities and manage time well.
Develop and implement a communications plan. Create a clear roadmap that includes defining target audiences, articulating mission and vision, crafting messages, and developing strategies as well as a timeline for implementation.
Develop a compelling elevator pitch for the organization, and for key departments. Develop a training program to disseminate to all staff.
Assist with the redevelopment of and maintain the site post-launch
Monitor and assure that all organizational communications vehicles have a unified brand identity and meet production quality standards.
Develop and produce printed materials in conjunction with program staff, especially writing/editing and laying out fact sheet.
Assist senior staff in identifying speaking opportunities based on their areas of expertise and help draft submissions to conferences.
Assist program staff in developing dynamic and compelling presentations for meetings and public speaking.
Scan news coverage of supporting housing and Brilliant Corners and identify opportunities for opinion essays or content corrections.
Work with publicist, graphic designer, web designer, and/or photographers as needed to develop and maintain materials, and to develop and implement specific projects or campaigns that require outside expertise.
Support the grant-writing process.

You're able to quickly understand a complex scenario and distill it down to the key elements. You have a knack for stripping away the distracting details and capturing in a few words what really matters.
You sweat the small stuff. You believe it's the little things that make the big thing work well. You believe that details are important, and they need to be right. You know that sometimes a word here or a design element there may have a huge impact on tone and message.

You can handle many important responsibilities at once, and you're rigorous about prioritization.
Professional Experience
At least 5 years of experience in journalism, non-profit communications, marketing or grant-writing
Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or Communications
Experience with homeless, veteran, and/or developmentally-disabled populations highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Outstanding writing and editing abilities - ability to absorb new, complex material quickly and generate excellent written product in a short period of time
Strong visual sensibility
Experience with WordPress, InDesign, PowerPoint and other presentation software highly desirable
Excellent organizational skills
Enthusiasm for the mission of Brilliant Corners
Position Details
Location: San Francisco or Los Angeles
Start date: open till filled
Compensation: $65,000-$95,000
Status: Exempt, full-time
Benefits: Health, dental, vision, retirement match, long-term disability, life insurance, flex spending, commuter plan, sick leave and vacation pay
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Travel required: Occasional travel to San Francisco, Los Angeles and other locations
