Mental Health Support Specialist

We are seeking a Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team! You will provide recovery-oriented rehabilitation services in home, in-office, and/or community-based treatment intervention to individuals, families, and groups with the support needed to cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a caseload between 10-15 clients.
  • See clients each week for the maximum amount of treatment time.
  • Maintain a caseload between based on service type provided (CPST/PSR/ILSB/CI).
  • Meet weekly Treatment Accountability Rule. (BRSS Employees are required to provide 85% of assigned client treatment each week.
  • Enter Client BIRP (progress) notes within one week from the date of service and Record Session in EVERSO (Electronic Visual Verification System) during time of treatment.
  • Facilitate and update treatment plans based on the client’s diagnosis and progress and/or regress.

General Accountabilities:

  • Provide supportive treatment services to clients to help them overcome dependencies, recover from illness, and adjust to life.
  • Attendance and participation in staff development programs, department related conferences and administrative meetings.
  • Utilizes the clinically driven individualized treatment plan created and implemented by Licensed Mental Health Providers (LCSW/LPC/PHD) to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan. Modifies client treatment plans to comply with any changes in status at a minimum of monthly.
  • Delivers evidence-based services to client and their family in a manner consistent with the program design to assure maximum effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with medical professionals to evaluate client's medical or physical conditions and to assess client needs.
  • Provides support to client based on these conditions, including transportation to appointments, appointment scheduling, and appointment reminders.
  • Attends clinical supervision sessions once a month.
  • Attends weekly webinars/trainings.
  • Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues
  • Offer assistance to individuals with mental health, behavioral health and substance abuse issues
  • Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree considered in the following fields of study (only): Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Sociology or Psychology.
  • Experience: Progressively responsible work, volunteer or intern experiences, preferably in human services/delinquency population. Appropriate certifications and/or licensures with at least 3 or more years of related experience.
  • Previous experience in mental health counseling or other related fields
  • Familiarity with community mental health resources
  • Must be capable of extensive travel and driving. Must be able to provide 24-hour, 7 day a week on-call crisis intervention to youth. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and week-ends. Ability to transport youth, volunteers and others. Must be free of communicable disease as defined by the state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under the law.

  • Knowledge of behavior and needs of adolescents and delinquents. Individual, group and family counseling skills. Substance abuse prevention or intervention.
  • Basic working knowledge of word processing and electronic communications (WORD and Outlook strongly preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Database management skills adequate to enter and retrieve data.
  • Ability to balance multiple, diverse and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, self-directed, good judgment
