Job Description

The Role 
The Senior Data Analyst/ Project Manager will leverage a strong analytic skills and project management experience to play a cross-functional role between the Strategic Initiatives and Technology teams at Bright Power. The Senior Data Analyst/ Project Manager will:
  • Lead large/ complex Strategic Initiatives projects, which may include:
    • Research projects with external partners on high performance buildings, new service approaches, large scale studies of retrofits or building technologies
    • Development of analysis methodologies and tools for internal or external use, which may include:
      • Lender tools such as CPC VeriFi
      • Client impact dashboards or other analysis tools
      • Internal savings or performance dashboards or databases
      • Predictive models building energy use, used for benchmarking performance, measuring savings or tracking anomalies
      • Information rich reports showcasing detailed quantitative analysis 
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to other team members on analysis methodologies and data/ software interactions which may include:
    • Lender reporting and analysis
    • EnergyScoreCards software and analysis approaches
    • Analysis of building energy use trends
  • Lead technical and non-technical cross-functional teams through product planning, development, test planning, and product launch.

Primary Responsibilities 
  • Lead specific internal or external Strategic Initiatives projects:
    • Create project plans and budgets
    • Design and create client deliverables including narratives, memos, data reports, tools, analysis dashboards or data visualizations
    • Lead client management and communication 
    • Collaborate with internal technology or engineering teams as needed
    • Oversee successful execution of project to meet client and budget goals
  • Support development of new SI business and partnership opportunities which may include:
    • Create business plans that fit into team and company mission and strategy
    • Project scoping
    • Proposal drafting
    • Collaborate with software on development of new tools and products
    • Create any documentation necessary to aid the product development lifecycle
    • Developing industry relationships
    • Creating sample deliverables or tool prototypes
  • Find opportunities to present internally and externally on relevant topics to build team and company thought leadership in the areas of:
    • Building decarbonization
    • Lender support
    • Ongoing building operations and maintenance
    • Measurement and Verification of energy projects
  • Support existing Bright Power contracts which may include analysis, reporting and software services for Fannie Mae’s Green Measurement and Verification Service
  • Follow regular guidance from Technical Director of Strategic Initiatives on integration with existing Strategic Initiatives and Technology projects
  • Provide mentorship and coaching for other team members on analysis approaches and tools including SQL, Python, BI tools and presentation of project findings

  • Advanced skills in data analysis and data visualization in tool(s) other than MS Excel
  • R/SQL and/or Python
  • Strong passion for turning data insights into meaningful business value
  • At least 5 years work experience in data science and/or product management role 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage a range of priorities
  • Collaborative working style, persuasive and clear communication skills
  • Calm under pressure and strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Advanced degree in engineering, physics, applied sciences, statistics, or data science
  • Experience writing research papers and independently leading complex analysis projects
  • Experience leading client relationships in a previous role
  • Experience in real estate, multifamily/ commercial lending, or housing policy
  • Knowledge of basic energy efficiency and building science concepts

Minimum 4 years experience or and advanced in math, applied science, building energy space, or corporate sustainability.
Minimum Bachelors Degree
Knowledge in: SQL
Knowledge in: Data visualization/BI
Knowledge in: MS Excel
