The Role
Bright Power is seeking a Data Engineer to support data pipelines under the direction of the Data Engineering Manager under the Technology Team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines/ETLs and ensuring quality data. In addition, you will be playing a key role in helping the junior members of the Data Team improve their technical skills.

Responsibilities
The Role
Bright Power is seeking a Data Engineer to support data pipelines under the direction of the Data Engineering Manager under the Technology Team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines/ETLs and ensuring quality data. In addition, you will be playing a key role in helping the junior members of the Data Team improve their technical skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and optimize data pipelines: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build pipelines and processes that ingest utility data meeting environmental, social, and governance requirements.
- Design and develop ETL workflows that integrate large, and complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
- Ensure a high standard of data quality and availability with focus on automated testing/regression, monitoring workflows and adjusting processes as needed.
- Perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata
- Serve as both a technical expert on the data team and as a technical guide to other data team members
Skills/Qualifications
- 2-5 years’ experience moving and maintaining data using ETLs or scripts
- Proficiency in SQL, and Python
- Experience using ETL (Extract, Transfer, Load) tools and Data APIs
- Data modeling and database management experience a plus
- Excellent analytic skills working with datasets
- Familiarity with JIRA, Tableau, Salesforce, JSON, XML, Java, JavaScript, and graph databases are all plusses
- Excellent attention to detail
- Critical thinking, logic-based reasoning, and problems solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, quickly learn new software/interfaces, and troubleshoot minor technical problems
- Strong work ethic and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for sustainability, climate change mitigation, and/or creating healthier buildings
- Interest in how real estate companies understand and manage energy and water across diverse portfolios
- Basic understanding of machine learning and algorithms
- Degree in Information Systems, Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a similar quantitative field and/or equivalent training
