Job Description

Outpatient Therapist, SUD (Substance Use Disorder)

Location: 152 Central Avenue Jersey City, NJ

Salary: $65,000-$75,000/Yr

Schedule: Hours: to be discussed with Director- to include weekends and evening

*No travel expected


  • Master degree and LSW, LAC or LAMFT and LCADC; or Master degree and LCADC required, CRP certified. Master degree and LCSW, LPC or LMFT and LCADC preferred.
  • Bilingual required for 1 of these 2 positions
  • 3 years paid progressive work experience with people who have SUD issues, preferably in an Outpatient or Community Mental Health Setting. Knowledge of community self-help SUD programs

Responsibilities/Duties Overview:

  • Provide outpatient therapy for adults with SUD, implementation and review of treatment plans in collaboration with the CCBHC team. Age-appropriate screening and preventative interventions.
  • Will use on-site, telehealth/telemedicine services as per the person-centered plan. · Initial risk assessment for initial treatment assessment and initial plan which may include warm handoff to any BHIS discipline · intake assessment, DSM-V diagnosis, goal planning, brief treatment, crisis stabilization, linkage, and discharge planning services for individuals with SUD, inclusive of BH and medical disorders.
  • Ongoing risk Assessment is conducted with each consumer to assess suicidal and/or homicidal ideation w/ clinically indicated follow up ·
  • MH and substance abuse treatment and education to consumers and significant others, focusing on evidence-based, trauma informed care ·
  • Crisis intervention for persons served with acute psychiatric needs whose circumstances/conditions require rapid intervention. Interventions may include but are not limited to: MI, CBT, Crisis Stabilization and De-Escalation, Trauma Informed Care, Self-Regulation, Psychoeducation, and clinically indicated interventions · Individual or group brief therapy & evidence-based interventions · Family involvement, psychoeducation and support as requested ·
  • Collaboration with Case Managers/Wellness Specialist-Peer for needed case management services. Work collaboratively with APN’s and Psychiatrists in providing Medication Education to persons served. ·
  • 24-hour on-call coverage on a rotating schedule among Licensed Clinicians and Director. Clinician’s on-call will determine acuity of the individual’s situation, and coordinate with DCO/24/7 Mobile Crisis as indicated. If consumer is stable, the clinician will provide appointment and encourage the individual to come in to receive services. ·
  • Crisis Intervention, Engagement, Needs and Strengths Comprehensive Assessment to include diagnosing, Collaborative Goal/ Discharge Planning, Brief Therapy, Individual and Family Psycho-education, collaborative documentation, and Trauma Informed Care.
