Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
Nonprofit Legal Services Provider
Northeast/Mid-Atlantic City (Will consider fully remote, with in-person visits to the NYC office as needed)
Terrific Director of Financial Planning and Analysis position with a highly regarded nonprofit that provides legal assistance to economically disadvantaged populations. The Director of FP&A will be a thought partner to the CFO and oversee organization-wide and program-based budgeting and financial planning. The position will be integrally involved in the grants process, including budget preparation, allowable versus non-allowable expenses, and timely spend down of funds. The Director will manage and mentor a team of 4. Ideal candidates should have experience in nonprofit finance and an understanding of fund accounting. Qualified candidates should have approximately 10+ years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree and/or CPA preferred. The salary range is $140,000 to $175,000 per year. The organization is open to considering candidates in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic on a fully remote work schedule, with visits to the NYC office on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage the organization's budgeting process, both organization-wide and program specific
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CFO
  • Oversee a portfolio of 100+ grants, including cost allocations, expenses, and ensuring timely spend down
  • Partner with the compliance team to analyze allowable versus non-allowable expenses
  • Review the general ledger and create budget versus actual analysis
  • Create budget modifications
  • Create financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Maintain current modeling systems; implement new budgeting and planning systems
  • Analyze and report finance results to the CFO and leadership team
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and cost allocation policies
  • Manage and support a team of four analysts
Qualifications:
  • Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience, including time in nonprofit financial planning
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree and CPA preferred
  • Experience managing large budgets, coupled with an understanding of fund accounting
  • Excellent management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Technologically savvy and detail oriented
  • Collaborative and detail oriented
