Job Summary: The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager with the direction, coordination, and operation of the retail store. He/she is responsible for supervising store employees in the absence of the Store Manager. The Assistant Manager ensures that proper customer care is practiced, that company merchandise and funds are properly cared for, and that company policies are followed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: NOTE: Brewer Oil Co. unilaterally may change the requirements of this job description at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in the absence of the Retail Manager to ensure that the store is operated during company's desired hours, and to ensure that the store is sufficiently staffed to meet company and customer expectations concerning service and appearance
- Assist the Retail Manager with paperwork, daily store reports, and deposits
- Assist the Retail Manager in encouraging, assisting, and training employees to become part of a motivated sales force, as needed
- Control store merchandise inventory and cash
- Work with vendors and ensure that correct merchandise is received
- Ensure compliance of established policies, procedures and practices
- Assist customers with inquiries and complaints
- Lock and secure the store when scheduled, in the absence of the Retail Manager
- Run cash register; stock and clean store
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Minimum high school graduate, or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain insurability
- Previous retail sales experience preferred
- Must maintain valid alcohol server certificate
- Working knowledge of business math
- Working knowledge of computers and associated equipment
- Able to communicate verbally, and in writing

- On call at all times, in the absence of the Retail Manager
- Primary work location is in the store, and some time spent outside the store, while dealing with customers or performing other duties
- Extended time standing to provide customer service
- Occasional lifting during stocking and cleaning duties
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds
- All company locations are smoke and drug free
- Stores are open every day except Christmas, requiring evening, weekend, and other holiday work as needed
