ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCYLead Wastewater Plant OperatorHuttoBRIEF DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform in a lead capacity to safely operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities; ensure compliance with permits; regulate process controls; and maintain plant efficiency for the Brazos River Authority (BRA). This is accomplished by overseeing less experienced employees while collecting samples; performing analysis; adjusting plant flows; observing plant conditions; adjusting chemical dosages; monitoring water quality and tank levels; performing routine lab analysis; calibrating and maintaining equipment; maintaining chlorine gas systems; performing meter reader collection for reports; performing data entry to record analysis results; performing preventative and corrective maintenance; and collecting samples throughout the plant. conventional areas of the plant; performing administrative functions; working within budget guidelines; assisting with training and mentoring less experienced operators; ordering supplies and chemicals; properly maintaining buildings and grounds; painting equipment, buildings, and structures; communicating Chief Operator's instructions to staff; and any other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in all sections of wastewater treatment systems including materials, methods, and techniques used in construction, maintenance, and electrical repairs; vehicle maintenance and repair; methods, practices, and equipment used in a water laboratory; state and federal regulations regarding water treatment; basic knowledge of chemistry; safety procedures and first aid training.REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduation, or its equivalent, and seven years of experience in wastewater treatment system operations; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. POSTING DATE: November 17,2020 - Open until filled.WORK SCHEDULE: This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty for emergency calls.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: A current Texas driver license and a good driving record are required. A Class A Wastewater License for wastewater treatment plants is required, however, appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.SALARY: $21.55 to $33.41 per hour depending on experience.
