Bookkeeper Accounting Assistant

Our company is looking for an experienced, full-time, Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable, is committed to consistently meeting deadlines, and has the drive to grow towards a larger role within our organization.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Issue monthly financial statements for management review

  • Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements

  • Assist with annual budget planning

  • Monitor variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

  • Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner

  • Develop and maintain an orderly accounting file system

  • Monitor debt levels and cash flow needs

  • Conduct bi-monthly reconciliation of Ace purchase statement

  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns

  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and credit card statements

  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy

  • Work with external accountant to provide information for federal tax return preparation

  • Maintain the chart of accounts

  • Follow accounting policies and procedures

  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns

Secondary Activities:

  • Ensure that receivables are collected promptly

  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits

  • Assist with processing payroll and other HR needs

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

  • CPA designation preferred but not required

  • Previous bookkeeping experience preferred

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with Epicor accounting software preferred but not required
