Job Title: Public Relations Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Marketing and Public Relations
This professional position will cultivate and steward relationships between the organization and its corporate donors, partner agencies, community foundations, and media. The position will support community partnerships while seeking new opportunities as well as execute a publicity campaign developed in conjunction with the Director of Marketing and Public Relations to increase year-round organizational awareness. Coordinate special event public relations, including finalizing press releases, distributing and helping coordinate media on site and prior to events.
Generate fundraising income through campaigns targeting foundations, corporate groups, alumni and individual donors within the community. Responsible for coordinating community fundraising for clubs, including back to school drives, toy drives, youth of the year, summer camp, etc.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
COMMUNITY RELAIONS RESPONSIBILTIES
Develop and execute an annual Community Relations Plan including development of goals, identification of target audience, strategies, tactics and budget management.
Represent the organization at events organized by civic groups, universities, colleges, service clubs and faith-based communities to raise awareness of BGCPBC.
Give presentations about and tours of Clubs to individuals, corporations and community groups to raise awareness of Clubs.
Plan and execute annual 'mission moment' events including:
Backpack and School Supply Drive for Club kids at all Clubs\
Thanksgiving Holiday Celebrations at all Clubs
Holiday Toy Drive for Club kids at all Clubs
Boca West 'Home for the Holidays' event
Coordinate production and use of marketing collateral for fairs, conferences, events and meetings.
Executive the engagement plan set by the Director of Marketing and PR for the Alumni Program. This entails e-communications and letters as well as coordinating an annual peer fundraising campaign.
Annually review lapsed donor report to identify opportunities for re-engagement with donors who haven’t donated yet in the calendar year.
PUBLIC RELATIONS RESPONSIBILTIES
Help to executive an internal communications plan developed by Director of Marketing and Public Relations aimed at employee recognition and retention.
Execute the media relations aspect of the 12-month communications calendar developed by Director of Marketing and Public Relations to include Boys & Girls Clubs of America campaign execution, television, radio newspaper, newsletter, and e-blasts.
Writes copy for direct mail appeals, quarterly stewardship letters, annual case for support, crowdfunding messages, and thank you letters.
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with volunteers, staff and supervisor to receive/provide information and discuss issues.
- External: Maintain contact and build relationships with community groups, schools external staff and volunteers, donors and others to recruit or to assist in resolving challenges. Identify, recruit and steward Club Advisory Board members.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, preferably in Public Relations, Journalism. Mass Communication, Advertising, or Marketing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all types of people.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies.
Valid Florida driver’s license – must be able to meet insurance requirements (drive to events, different Club sites and Administrative Office and/or off-site meetings/trainings as required for the position).
Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of Adobe Creations suite a plus
AP style writing experience a must, writing samples required with application.
