Job Summary

The STEM Director will be responsible for the STEM, Robotics, and AI programs within the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania. This position has a high importance with working with youth development, vocational training, and organizational development; and understands the demographics of under-served communities and the need for access to high quality and culturally responsive career exposure and preparation.


  • Supervisees STEM staff, Ambassadors and YDP’s facilitating STEM programs
  • Leads STEM Department in improving techniques of STEM instruction and improving overall student achievement.
  • Works collaboratively with others to create STEM pathways and opportunities for students in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
  • Collaborate with other program directors and clubhouse directors to best incorporate STEM into programs.
  • Communicates clear expectations and goals for the work of the STEM Department; tracks SMART goals, goals of grants and develops reports for leadership and funders.
  • Facilitates and manages the comprehensive STEM strategy that includes budget.
  • As it pertains to grant writing and fundraising - Research & Identify STEM grant applications for program funding. Work collaboratively in identifying possible partners for collaborative programs, fundraising opportunities and grant opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Career Works on youth workforce development initiatives involving science, technology, and engineering


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in some combination of youth development, k-12, higher education administration, Stem & technology.
  • Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR letter.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire
  • Be able to attend a minimum of 12 hours of training per year.
  • Attend CPR, Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills are a must
  • Proficient in Google Suite.
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
  • Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.

Certifications and Clearances

CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire or newer then 6 months.
PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test must be submitted upon hire and before start date
