• Starting pay is $13.00 an hour 
• Located in our Hale Pono Ewa Beach Clubhouse 
• 19 hours a week with GREAT benefits.
• The position will be implementing high-yield learning, healthy lifestyles, and learning activities.
• At least one year of experience required working with elementary, middle school and/or teen population required.

Required education:
• High school diploma/equivalent  


The Youth Development Specialist is responsible for assisting with the daily planning and implementation of one or more of the "core" programs for youth Club members as directed by the Youth Development Director or Project Coordinator, or other designated supervisor, and conducting daily activities that are consistent with the organization's youth development goals, strategy and mission, and the Boys & Girls Club of America core values.

KEY ROLES (Essential Responsibilities):

• Assists in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities which may include but may not be limited to one of the following Boys & Girls Club "core" program concepts and/or curriculums.
Assists with recruiting youth to participate in program activities.
• Assists with Club and program orientation for youth members and parents.
• Assists in planning and implementing special small group activities (as assigned) for Club members between the ages of 6-17 years.
• Assists in planning and implementing program activities that provide for the developmental needs of youth and incorporating the Youth Development Strategy (enhancing the potential for developing a sense of competence, belonging, usefulness and influence).

• Provides guidance to all youth members in making positive choices for proper behaviors.
• Assists all youth with following Club rules to reinforce pro-social behaviors.
• Provides guidance for youth members dealing with unacceptable behaviors, utilizing techniques that help youth members accept personal responsibilities for their behavior, and develops a positive plan of action for change.

• Assists in the posting of daily program schedules that are creative and attractive.
• Assists in creating signs, posters, and announcements that are attractive and prominently displayed which provide information on coming events.
• Assists in preparing flyers, mail outs, etc., to advertise and promote program(s).
• Assists in making personal presentations to schools, parent groups, and other community organizations for promotions of programs.

• Assists with preparing requisitions for program supplies and equipment.
• Assists supervisor with preparing required program reports.
• Assists with regular evaluations of program activities and make changes as necessary to ensure quality service.
• Attends scheduled staff meetings.

• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of programs under his/her jurisdiction

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to carry out detailed and complex instructions; ability to BGCH with coworkers and public by telephone and in person as a member of a team to provide services to external and internal customers; ability to perform a variety of duties and prioritize tasks to meet organizational needs. Ability to clearly and concisely exchange ideas, information and guidance in person, by telephone, email, fax or correspondence. Physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting for four or more hours a day, standing for one to two or more hours a day, stooping; skills essential for successful communications include speaking, writing and reading comprehension.
