Personal Injury Paralegal

Job Duties:

  • Open new cases;
  • Organize and maintain legal files;
  • Obtain and organize documentation required at different stages of the case;
  • Process medpay and maintain client balance sheets;
  • Create relationships with clients and guide them through the case process;
  • Obtain prior injury/medical and claims/lawsuits history;
  • Assist in intake of potential client calls;
  • Utilize existing files and a variety of other research resources to develop information for pending cases;
  • Work with attorneys and clients to develop client harms and losses;
  • Assist in drafting demand packages;
  • Prepare pleadings and court filings;
  • E-file;
  • Assist in discovery;
  • Prepare mediation and deposition binders;
  • Prepare trial notebooks;
  • Calendar meetings and deadlines.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate required;
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of personal injury paralegal experience (or equivalent with working knowledge of the claims process, preparation of demands and personal injury law in Colorado).
  • Must be able to handle a personal injury case from intake through trial;
  • Knowledge of Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure;
  • Familiarity with ICCES and e-filing;
  • Very organized, with high attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deliver results, and maintain quality while working under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
  • Trustworthy and able to exercise confidentiality in all situations;
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with others;
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with a broad range of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Must be able to learn new programs quickly and accurately;
  • Strong research skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to deal empathetically with clients who are injured and scared, while still maintaining professionalism;
  • Ability to draft professional letters that are free of grammar and spelling mistakes;
  • Strong critical thinking skills: ability to problem solve, follow instructions, be creative, use discretion, ask questions when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Commensurate with experience ($50,000.00 - $75,000.00);
  • PTO;

  • $25,000.00 life insurance policy;
  • 401K with up to 4% employer match (21+, 4-month waiting period);
  • Discretionary holiday bonus.
