Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking Registered Nurse (RN) candidates to join our Endoscopy / GI Lab as a Procedural Nurse. This position is part-time 18-24 hours per week Our GI Lab is open Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm. The endoscopy RN provides care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. The endoscopy RN performs intake, assists the Gastroenterologist in performing endoscopic procedures, and recovers patients post procedure.

  • Experience working in both primary care and specialty care clinics.

Job Duties:

  • Performs pre-procedure interviews and visits as needed.
  • Places intravenous line per protocol.
  • Utilizes the nursing process along with SGNA/AORN standards to ensure all of the patient safety goals are incorporated into the care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates awareness of appropriate medication use and follows all policies concerning medication administration.
  • Applies principles of asepsis, maintains sterile field technique during sterile procedures. Assists with terminal care of equipment.
  • Accurately labels and handles specimens. Prepares cytology requisitions.
  • Identifies emergency situations and institutes corrective actions in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Assists the anesthesiologists with patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, anticipating the physician's needs and preparing emergent medications if necessary.





  • Must be able to recognize and identify patient's symptoms and use appropriate professional judgment in course of action.
  • Broad knowledge base of general nursing practice, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
  • Requires good nursing assessment skills and knowledge of the post anesthesia care unit, including medication reactions and monitor interpretation.
  • Good history-taking skills, strong, competent computer skills; accurate and complete documentation skills; good time management and organizational skills.
  • Relate well and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision.
  • Able to maintain high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure by the State of Colorado.
  • Must have current BCLS and ACLS, or obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Previous Experience:

  • 1-2 years' nursing experience is preferred, preferably in a critical care area, perioperative clinic or hospital setting.
  • Previous endoscopy experience is favorable.
Salary Range:
  • $29.50 - $37.50/hour; depending on experience
