Resident Engineer- Highway Construction

Boswell Engineering is seeking a Resident Engineering/CEI candidate with experience on highway/bridge projects for assignment on a NYSDOT project in Region 11 (Bronx, NY). A synopsis of the primary duties of the Resident Engineer include responsibility for Construction Engineering and Inspection services; project controls; staff supervision; and quality control.

Responsibilities:

• Manage construction inspection activities and provide contractor oversight
• Provide guidance and coordinate both field and office inspection personnel
• Enforce client policies and project specific objectives
• Administer and manage the project from the construction phase through contract closeout
• Oversee and ensure all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with the contract documents, budget and schedule
• Evaluate the adequacy of the contractor’s personnel and equipment including the availability of personnel and supplies
• Function as the primary liaison between the company and client interface
• Maintain the Engineers Daily Project Diary describing work progress, problems encountered and other pertinent information
• Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Current registration with the NYS Education Department as a Professional Engineer
• Significant history as a Resident Engineer on NYSDOT transportation projects, i.e., highway, bridge, etc.
• Demonstrated experience with NYSDOT, as a NICET IV Resident Engineer
• Familiarity and working knowledge of SiteManager
• Experience and familiarity with MURK
• Ability to interpret plans/specifications and properly document collected data
• Experience with estimating, scheduling and project management software preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Possess strong people and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work night and/or weekends as required
