Front of the house manager reports to the Owner and performs the following duties:
Hires new FOH staff and terminates undesirable FOH staff. Ordering FOH Inventory including napkins, cleaning supplies, dishware, takeout supplies and barware. Makes weekly schedule for FOH staff. Approves or denies for days off and will determine which staff will cover busy or slow shifts. Event planning including scheduling events, books backroom and coordinates staff to work events. Must excel at customer service and train staff to have superb customers service. Must make sure customers leave the restaurant happy. Must be able to problem solve and handle disgruntled customers by offering suggestions and solutions. Must be able to handle employee issues such as tardiness, cell phones, language, attitude and dress code. Must be able to facilitate FOH and BOH issues. Must be able to control seating at peak times. Must be able to jump in to assist staff when busy (expedite or run food, pour water, bus tables, seat customers, etc.) Manage employee contests, assist with bar inventory and manage the bar including running specials and contests.
