Summary: Responsible for planning and facilitating enriching, educational and recreational focused programs for youth ages 13-18 and transitional aged youth (TAY) 18-23. Facilitate comprehensive age-appropriate activities that allow for social, cognitive and physical growth to benefit at risk youth. Identify appropriate partnerships and collaborative opportunities to enhance programming. The candidate must have a positive attitude and serve as a role model/mentor to participants in the program.

Essential Duties

 Accountable for the coordination, implementation, supervision of staff and securing volunteers and mentors for teens ages 13-17 and TAY 18 to 23

 Supervise the day to day activities of the all teen activities

 Providing training and ongoing support for mentors, initiating and maintaining coordination of program activities with administrators from targeted schools and planning and conducting program activities and events.

 Facilitate and develop a partnership with other teen serving organizations, law enforcement based mentoring program with the intervention problem solving program to address juvenile gang involvement, gun violence, community activism and pride, life skills, college preparation, and teaching employable skills for teens.

 Publicize youth programs and activities and recruit prospective participants.

 Oversee the preparation of facilities and assembly of materials and supplies needed to carry out program activities.  Recruit and supervise parents, high school/college students, and other adults who provide volunteer assistance to youth programs.

 Maintain records of attendance and other program information; prepare monthly statistical reports required by funders, etc.

 Arrange for transportation and assist in transporting participants to and from programs as needed.

 Act as liaison between the center and parents, teachers, social workers, and other officials regarding the youth enrolled in center programs.

 Observe the reactions and behavior of participants and help them to develop their abilities via instruction, coaching counseling, etc., advise Youth Program Director of any noted developmental or serious behavioral problems.

 Serves as a principal liaison between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or external constituencies on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues; facilitates seminars, meetings, special projects, and problem resolution.

 Performs clerical and administrative support tasks, including creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, flyer, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.

 Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; participate in other fundraising activities.

 May perform specialized activities of a programmatic nature in direct support of the accomplishment of program objectives and protocol.

 Act as liaison between the center and parents, teachers, social workers, and other officials regarding the youth enrolled in BTWCSC programs.

 Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skill Required:

 Bachelor’s degree required

 A background in education and/or college course in recreation, education are preferred.

 At least four years of experience successfully working with children.

 Ability to communicate effectively with agency staff, clients, youth and volunteers.

 Ability to execute, and participate in, if necessary, activities appropriate for assigned age group.

 Emotional maturity, good moral character, and integrity.

 Demonstrated involvement and commitment to the youth community.

 Other training may be required after employment begins.

 Genuine interest in character development of youth.

 Does not indulge in illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages prior or during work hours

 Driver's License a must

 Ability to plan, be flexible, work with a team, and create activities on the spot.

 Must have CPR/First Aid certification.

 Must attain Food Safety certification Schedule

 Monday - Friday, 9am to 6:00pm, varies based on the regular San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) instructional calendar, with additional hours when available and approved.  Full days required on several SFUSD school closure days.  Additional hours required for family events include, but are not limited to: youth department events, evening and late-night duty, early dismissal, week hours, staff meetings, a calendar will be provided.
