Job Description
BlueSphere Bio was founded to deploy its novel TCXpress technology to unlock the potential of personalized T cell therapy for the treatment of cancer by harnessing the unique specificity of each patient’s T cells for the molecular fingerprint of each patient’s cancer.

Our trailblazing, proprietary TCXpress platform is an elegant, rapid approach that exploits the patient’s immune defenses to attack their cancer specifically and is designed to leave normal tissues untouched, thereby reducing harmful side effects.
The TCXpress platform and its implementation will deliver rapid, personalized T cell treatments for various cancer indications.

The Research Associate is the primary and critical interface for developing non-viral delivery tools for gene editing and lentivirus-based gene therapy skills. Product Development is currently seeking RA candidates with a cellular assay focus or a combination of cellular and molecular assay experience. RAs will be engaged in executing experiments to evaluate key steps and developing assays that will be transferred to the manufacturing program within Product Development. In addition, we will train new personnel in project-specific techniques and procedures. The RA position reports to the VP, Product Development and is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tissue culture includes the application of aseptic techniques for media preparation, passaging, maintenance, and cryopreservation of cell cultures (e.g., cell lines)
  • Generating modified-T cells (gene-edited and transduced) for preclinical studies
  • Perform and optimize key characterization and release assays
  • Immunological assays (Flow cytometry, ELISA, and T cell functional assays; e.g., cytotoxicity and cytokine production assays)
  • Opportunities exist to support T cell engineering, plasmid generation, and lentivirus production based on experience and interest
  • Must maintain accurate lab records of methods and results in our electronic notebook system
  • Team player and the ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects in a collaborative environment​​​​​​
  • Share responsibility for basic lab management activities (supply orders, instrument calibration, maintaining schedules)

Qualifications and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s (BS) or master’s degree (MS) in Immunology, Cell Biology, or Molecular Biology, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of lab based working experience, experience in Biotech/ Pharmaceutical industry is preferred
  • Experience in GxP and SOPs definite plus
  • Strong quantitative background and comfort with performing curve fitting calculations
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce consistent results and effectively communicate them to the team
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel is required; prior experience with advanced analytical software (Prism, flow cytometry, plate readers) is desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
