Job Description

Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician to be part of our Pharmacy Team.

The pharmacy technician will assist the pharmacist with all aspects of accurately dispensing medications while providing exceptional customer service to clinic patients.

Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing.
Assist with inventory management.
Facilitate optimization of clinical outcomes through medication management.
Medication Assistance Programs (MAP) Specialist.
Accountable for ensuring all monthly inventory tasks are completed by pharmacy staff, including cycle counts, returns, checking for out of dates, and other duties as assigned.
Orders all necessary patient education materials, including but not limited to: educational literature, demonstration devices, co-pay coupons, and multimedia resources.
Completes all administrative tasks as assigned, including but not limited to: operating the fax machine, receiving and sending mail, and other forms of correspondence.

Description of Primary Attributes:
Must be able to read and generate written medical communication and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.
Active participant in the BRCHS Performance Improvement program at clinic site.
Ability to communicate any real or potential clinic problems to appropriate risk management staff.
Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.
Strong interest in working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team and culturally diverse patient population

Professional and Technical Knowledge:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients in Spanish (preferred, not required).
Assists with translation of patient education materials from English to Spanish.
Demonstrates a willingness to interpret for pharmacists and other staff members.
Certification/Licensure Specific Requirements:
Registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred.

Physical Demands:
Moves in and out of pharmacy, hallways, and waiting room. Spends a good portion of the day on feet.
Some bending and stooping required. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance.
Ability to operate equipment such as keyboard, mouse, calculator, and similar machines
Visual activity required to respond and react to customer observations and to physical changes while assisting with pharmacy tasks.
Eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity needed to perform pharmacy procedures, entering data, and reviewing software.
Must be able to read and generate written communication and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.
