BJN is continuing to grow and are looking to add another Network Technician! BJN is seeking a new Level 2 Microsoft Network Engineer, preferably holding an MCSE. for a job we call Reactive Care. This is a reactive, client facing job, whose main role is to respond when bad things happen on the networks we manage, and to help devise plans to ensure they do not.
Blue Jean Networks is one of the finest IT consulting firms in the area. It is a great place to work, with lots of laughter, and lots of stimulation for a Tech wanting to grow in their career. BJN is a past winner of Small Business of the Year and regularly wins awards.
A typical person that would succeed in this position would be a leader in many things they do, rising to the top of the challenges they face. The applicant must be smart, as this is a reactive care position, working as a friend in time of need for our clients networks, and advising them on their needs.
To be successful, an applicant should have great follow through in tasks, evidenced in their life by completed projects, good study habits, disciplined work in clubs and social situations, etc. There are lots of ways to prove this, but just knowledge is not enough to hold a position like this. In addition, since this is a reactive role, great diagnostics skills are a must.
DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED if you are young, but have been disciplined enough to get certifications that prove you know your stuff.
You don't have to have an MCSE or MCITP, but lack of these in an experienced professional is an indicator that challenges exist in the disciplines of your career, so you should apply without these only if you have serious chops as a Server and Network Support Technician.
We will test you thoroughly to get this position, and grade A candidates will not mind this at all, seeing it as a chance to prove their excellence. Tests will include psychological tests to determine your level of caring for others, as well as the methods you use in your environment to work, and the level of your technical understanding.
This is a client facing position, and that should not be underestimated. A winner here will have the ability to talk with amateurs and professionals, holding their own in any conversation, but not insisting with pride or arrogance, but rather, focused on listening and offering hope to frustrated clients.
We don't believe in taking advantage of you, so we pay our people hourly, unlike so many in this industry. If your are working overtime, you will be paid! In other consulting firms you will work as much at 500 hours overtime a year, and never make an extra dime. At BJN, you will get time and a half for over time, and your pay can bloom accordingly. Some of our techs make 10-20% more than their base salary some weeks. On the other hand, if time is what you value, you can work your 40, and keep a high level of personal balance in your life.
The successful applicant will get to play in all these fields, and get great experience in all of the following Technologies. It would be great if they already had deep understanding of all of these, but mastery in some of them should be considered mandatory.
The candidate should be able to handle the breadth of Business Networks, with key abilities in understanding
- General Computing Technology Overview,
- Deep Understanding of Microsoft Server and Workstation Product Suite,
- Exchange, Office 365 and Mail flow,
- Microsoft DNS,
- Active Directory design,
- Multiple server networks,
- Requirements of SQL, Exchange, Terminal Server,
- Experience in upgrades and migration of all of these systems.
Additionally, a candidate could be experienced in:
- Modern UTM firewall technology,
- Virtual computing,
- Cloud Services.
Either way, if they are not experienced in these technologies now, they will be after working with us for a year.
