Position: Resort General Manager
Job Purpose: The General Manager provides leadership for all aspects of the Resort’s operations with an emphasis on strategic goals, growth, profit, and return on investment. The ideal candidate will manage the overall operations of the Resort as well as develop and implement strategies that meet the needs of the owners, guests, community, associates and other stakeholders. They will be responsible for making key decisions that affect the direction of the Resort and for executing the culture of the Resort. The GM keeps the owners informed about significant issues, e.g. the industry, regulatory and legislative trends and challenges, the financial status of the Resort, policy matters, stakeholder wishes and concerns, industry best practices, etc.
Duties
- Motivating and inspiring Executive and management teams while supporting the Resort’s mission, vision and core values.
- Serving as primary liaison between the Resort and ownership.
- Overseeing the Resort’s financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission and goals of the Resort.
- Reviewing the financial results of all operations, comparing them with the Resort’s objectives and taking appropriate measures to correct unsatisfactory performance and results.
- Ensuring the Resort’s compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
- Serving as the Resort’s representative to ownership, associates, guests, the government, and the public.
- Facilitating a successful business operation while meeting deadlines, providing attention to detail, and following budget guidelines.
- Making key decisions that will affect the Resort's direction.
- Influencing a positive and productive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality as General Manager or Assistant General Manager.
- Excellent managerial, financial and analytical aptitude with the ability to take leadership over any business operations area.
- Superlative communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate as a leader.
- Ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate along with excellent consultative skills including opportunity/problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
- Thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas and phases of business operations.
- Ability to apply strategic thinking skills with the ability to effectively execute strategies and tactics in support of the Resort’s direction and culture.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Proven background in development of people including coaching, mentoring, and performance management along with experience in team/relationship building; interpersonal skills; ability to effectively build relationships and adapt business practices to multiple cultures, ethnic and social environments.
- Education may vary; an advanced degree in business administration, finance, or law is preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to accept the most effective role.
